SVSound is world famous manufacturer of high quality Subwoofers and reasonably priced high quality speakers I had experience in the past and impressed by quality of SVS products.

When I heard about this little Class-D Amp, I wonder how they would sound because I never like the sound of Class-D Amps in general except for higher-end offering from some manufacturers.

When I received this review sample from SVS, I was surprised to see how small the box and when I open it actual unit was even smaller than expected, weight is less than 5lbs and whole enclosure and knobs are made of hard plastic. Package only includes one AC power cord, instruction manual and warranty card.

I set it up in my TV room, connected with optical cable from my TV and 15" Macbook Pro connected with Behringer UCA202USB DAC to AUX analog input of the SVS Prime Wireless Soundbase driving JBL Studio 590 speakers. I let it run-in for more than ten days without any critical listening but I’m pretty impressed from what I’m hearing from the beginning.

So after two weeks of using the SVS Soundbase I made YouTube sound demo, after that I started my critical listening sections with JBL Studio 590 speakers, I started Amazon music streaming with DTS PalyFi iPhone app.

SVS Wireless Soundbase DTS PlayFi streaming includes Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM, Tidal, iHeart Radio and Amazon music.

I went through many different music genre and the whole playlist in my laptop. The clean, clear, good soundstage I’m hearing from unknown built-in AD-DA converter is doing great job by producing good quality natural sound without coloration and Class-D amp is controlling big towers with ease, most impressing thing is bass control I’ve heard from this small little tiny box with JBL 590 towers.

Soundstage is wide and deeper than expected with very detail sound, highs are clean, very well extended with good instrument separation, may not produce lush silky sound like Class-AB counterparts but there is no unwanted brightness until I pushed them to the limit like 95db SPL.

Midrange is natural, very clean, male and female vocals are accurate without sounding chesty or nasal and tonality is accurate good musical tone without over doing anything. Which is very impressive feat in this price range and being budget friendly powerful Class-D amplifier.

What I like most about this little amp is Bass control, taking my JBL Studio 590 to chest thumping house shaking level of bass performance with good definition and taking full control of hard to drive KEF LS50 mini monitor speakers. Thats very impressive in my book because 150W @ 4Ω load specification is not only on the paper.

Overall musical spectrum is very enjoyable to listen, sound presentation is not forward or laidback, natural sound with good scale and musical sense that this little box can bring is very impressive but it may not work well with top end forward sounding speakers or speakers with bright tweeters. If paring components is properly chosen this little SVS Soundbase can brings you smile on your face with your favorite music.

Only a few thing I would like to point out is DTS PlayFi App need improvements. Like, while I’m streaming music with my iPhone if I use other apps, it would shutdown and stop streaming music, it happens every time. I would love to see SVS own app with DSP built-in because this amp have more potential than DTS PlayFi app can do and plastic enclosure maybe more rigid than cheap thin aluminum box but it's not my favorite material to use for good quality sounding amplifier.

I would highly recommended to anyone who is looking for one box solution with their favorite speakers, this SVS Soundbase can drive pretty much any speakers with quality sound.

Please see my YouTube video review here.,

Pros: Vividly Dynamic Neutral Sound, Bass Control, Clean Presentation.

Cons: Plasticky Enclosure, DTS PlayFi App.
