Ascend Acoustics Sierra NrT Tower Speaker Review.

September 30, 2014

Acoustics Sierra NrT Towers.

Price: $2,098.00 (Pair)

Use to be my reference speakers in my system.

Fit and finish is great, the one I have is Satin Espresso color cabinets are vertically laminated bamboo.

Bass reflex via flared rear port tube.

These are great all around speakers that can handle any kind of music, Definitely recommended to all music lovers for their sheer ability to produce un-color natural dynamic sound with good sound stage.

Bass reflex via rear port tube for ( 2 ) 5.25” long throw mineral-filled polypropylene cone woofers. Bass response is deep and fast, not as tight as I would like to enjoy but it does offer very musical quality bass from two small woofers.

Highs are smooth with very good musical extension, it can play loud without any noticeable distortion at high volume level and very musical non fatiguing highs in long listening section thanks to NrT Soft Dome Tweeter. NrT (“Neodymium Ring-Magnet Tweeter") has a completely new motor assembly that was developed by a joint venture between Ascend and SEAS of Norway, and is only available from Ascend Acoustics which designed specifically for their requirements.

Another significant sound quality is contributed by 5.25” Mid-Range driver with solid aluminum phase plug house in Isolated sealed internal midrange chamber., according to Ascend Acoustics "uses a combination of an underhung voice coil combined with an advanced neodymium magnet system. Also, this driver is housed in its own critically damped sealed enclosure, the volume and damping of which is carefully controlled to obtain a specific acoustic rolloff and Q."

Nicely designed and voiced Sierra NrT towers comes with 7 year parts and labor warranty to make it even more attractable. I had great time with them in my system, truly musical speakers that can also handle good amount of power.

Only few down side for me was lack airy presentation between instruments to make it sound more sophisticated and tighter bass response is a must for a speaker in this price range for my music.
